Thanks for sharing, very well written, albeit dreadfully scary article The fact that college students, of all people, would not only go along with this crap, but even be the driving force behind it, is mind boggling !
College student wanting warnings before anyone mentions anything that anybody possibly might find a little bit disturbing to their own idea of emotional comfort ?? What the fuck are they even doing in college ?? How could this even be remotely called an education ??

Now, being the devil's advocate I am, apply this article to the Stolen Space incident a month back. Not really sure how that applies though. Everyone understand that even free speech has its limitations. Even in the most democratic forums (and by that i don't mean online) you do not advocate inciting violence, advocating racial cleansing or denying its historical occurence, supporting rape, spreading slander based on race, gender, religion etc... THis does not mean you are not allowed to mention the existence of the above, or to debate how it is being treated. But when you decide that the measure of what is acceptable, is not whether most people would see an uncalled for provocation or act with obvious intention to hurt or disturb, but rather if someone might associate it in some way with something that resembles something else that is discomforting to them….then that pretty much includes everything that was ever said or written by anybody in any context whatever the intention, including this message

Goldsmiths / UoL is currently mired in a black hole of this kinda thang, where Goldies feminists have sided with the rather awful Goldsmiths Islamic society in opposing the visit of Maryam Namazie.Its a quite delightful piece of theatre we are seeing more and more. www.secularism.org.uk/news/2015/12/islamist-students-try-to-disrupt-ex-muslim-maryam-namazies-talk-on-blasphemy-at-goldsmiths-universityanyway, the whole thing has its roots in that awful construct of privilege checking that grew from the rights campaigns of the 70s US liberal universities .We can take the piss, but its is sad so see something that started off as a leveler,a progressive means to get people involved, become used as a lazy tool of suppression by fucking morons.

I don't know the origin of this image but I believe it dates from a time before chemical contraceptives were available.

www.lrb.co.uk/v37/n05/john-lanchester/the-robots-are-comingFairly long and wide ranging book review/discussion that touches on the looming redundancy of humans & likely the INEVITABLE RISE OF THE MACHINES etc. Stick with it, its worth 20 minutes of your precious time.- you would only be watching Kyle or daydreaming about sex anyway

I'm confused... is this a book as well as a film, or just the book? website says "about this film"

I'm confused... is this a book as well as a film, or just the book? website says "about this film" It's a book, made by a film company (there may be a film in the making – who nose ) The first edition sold out in a day or two, second was similar – reckon they're printing the third reprint soon. It's a great book about a singular talent, the art market and gullibility of the experts.

Galleries, auction houses, museums, private collectors, etc, they all love a bargain.
I love this paragraph from his wiki;
In November 2015, as his book A Forger's Tale was being promoted, Greenhalgh claimed authorship of a disputed Leonardo da Vinci work, known as La Bella Principessa, which he said he made in the late 1970s, around the age of 20, using vellum recycled from a 16th-century land deed. Greenhalgh said the woman's face is that of a supermarket check-out girl named Alison who worked in Bolton.

I'll have to pick up a copy when it;s back in stock! seems like a great companion to the docs "Art and Craft" and "Beltracchi - The Art of Forgery", two great docs on art forgers. and of course, the greatest anti-art-establishment film I've ever seen (and a must watch for any art collector): Robert Hughes' "The Mona Lisa Curse" vimeo.com/62973616

You end up rooting for van Meegeren
