since this place started, I've had a few people ask me if it's okay to post something non-art for sale. what would everyone say to a non-art classifieds section? I'm looking into seeing if there's a way to have posts not bump and not show in "recent posts" so you'd have to be actively looking for the section to see it and it wouldn't clutter up the board
thoughts?

Would bog this place down. There are plenty of places I can buy used toasters from. I would hate for this place to become more Craigslist then the other forum.

I would say yes, if it is in some way loosely related to art. One of my all time favourite for sale threads on the other forum was someone trying multiple times to flog a Habitat cd shelf designed by Sharleen Spiteri from Texas. Now if people have bizarre junk like that, I for one would like to see it.

I don't mind as long as its cool shit/rare stuff and not any old crap. Best thing about this forum is that there are no long drawn out sales bitching threads about prints etc. they get quashed quick smart. So I don't see a non art section turning into a problem..

looks like we could make it not bumpable, but no way to prevent it from showing up in recent posts/threads. at least I think that's what the dude at ProBoards said. I'm not exactly sure what distinguishes the two

we couldn't figure out how to not have a particular section appear under "recent posts" and I got the impression some people don't want to see ads for other members' random crap, so this has been nixed for now, unless someone's got a way to get around it? on an unrelated note, anyone looking for a first edition Naked Lunch or Atlas Shrugged?  |
