Haha if the rumor mills are working correctly, and the stars are aligned, the date is now out of the bag. Nelly Duff posted on IG and FB that the Banksy curated show will hit London on the 20th of August. If the other rumors are also correct then a new Banksy release is being printed as we speak  If the corporate spying is correct then it will have something to do with the name Dismaland. And if Fragile's photo tells us anything there will be another ancient greeky piece somewhere...
Now if only I can convince my wife we need a vacation
edit: there is some talk on the UAA, that Nelly Duff may not be in the know, so there may still be a chance for Weston Super Mare

This is rather clandestine, can you divulge who asked to remove the posts, as I would assume it wasn't the poster(s) as they would be able to delete their own posts? At the end of the day it's only a show, and one that appears not even to be a Banksy show but rather him curating it. Even if it was Banksy, all the hype and chit chat just fuels the mystic that fuels over priced art, which I assume is the ultimate aim of Nelly Duff or whoever else is organising. As much as I like Banksy and his art, this whole approach is a bit silly. Bring back the old days of a shop and a price list and enough prints for everyone that wants one. |

yeah I agree. I prefer the work to just speak for itself, without all the buildup and rumors.
I would let you know who asked, expect I don't know myself. they contacted someone else, who contacted me. and it's not my place to say who that was. in any event, I'll be making the other thread public again as soon as I get home (or if another mod beats me to it.. stuck in a meeting at work). think it's a bit pointless now as the event approaches

Sorry if I am ignorant, but that one has been around in Birmingham for ages hasn't it ? I think there are photos dating back to 2012 but i don't know who it is by for sure ? When I first heard that Dismaland story it immediately made me think of that but I can't really see the link if this does indeed predate the Dismaland company and isn't by Banksy? Am I missing something ? |

Funny you mention Jo Brooks. I was following her on Twitter. You prompted me to check my following list and she was gone. I figured that I accidentally removed her. When I went back to re-add her to my following list, I discovered she had blocked me! Which is nuts because I only ever tweeted in her direction one time. I included her on the question I tweeted to the Weston Super Mare Museum, asking about a possible Banksy show. I posted their response in the other "members only" thread, which was something like: "we aren't aware of Banksy visiting us. where did you hear the rumour?" Weird.
I have never been blocked by anyone. The fact that Banksy's publicist blocked me because I included her in a single tweet, where I politely inquired about a possible show, is very odd. I'm think I'm flattered.

But really isn't it just as bad that the forum administrators/mods quietly (read without notice) switched the original Banksy show thread to private and they weren't even contacted by anyone professionally associated with him, but a 'mysterious' friend . However I bet anyone here awhile could guess with one or two guesses who that was.
And to make it worse, now that their action became public they could simply switch it off private again because, hey the show is getting close anyway? ....
I imagine if Silky did this next door many would have a bit more to say about it.
