looking forward to this- maybe next weekend. Good to see that Cauty is giving his dinorama(sp)of dystopia another airing for those that missed its Hoxton show last year.
Pinching stuff is a bit wanky though.

lol, Banky is a corporation with a fake registered trademark What I was trying to say is that there is a Hirst/Banksy connection, at least in my mind. Do I think Damien Hirst is Banksy? I don't know.
This is an old conspiracy theory, I know. But that golden unicorn in formaldehyde didn't do anything to dissuade me from thinking that it's true.

I still have no idea what you are on about but as I said, I like you so if you want a T-Shirt PM me and I'll sort you out. And edit: I'm glad to end your conspiracy, Damien's name is Damien and Banksy's name is Rob. Conspiracy solved.

Let's have a thread SOLELY about people favourite pieces (with pics) why they like the pieces and what they think dismaland is really about? Let's deseparately separate this place from that other consumer led vacuous place where there's no higher purpose than buying a fucking t shirt and being there with my internet friends. Please for the love of billy butlin. I'll start a thread later and let's see if we can actually talk like beasts a step above their bases urges for a few minutes? I concur (strongly) Can't for the life of me find the manifesto pic i saw for the show. All the food for thought visitors needed but I've to see/read people talking about the points raised. How many people laughed half-hearted at the migrants in boats and then moved onto the next work??? posted by carlcashman

Can walk right on up with my family of 4. No queue night 2 YEAH Did you buy tickets from the booth, and then pop straight in lee3 and was it evening or a morning slot? Might try Sunday Eve and Monday morning. I walked in at 5:30 and bought from the booth and then snaked around quickly and walked straight in. This was maybe 10 minutes after a nice storm moved through however so i think my timing might have been fortunate. I heard the queue was lengthy for the morning shift and still fairly long until ~4pm (when the rain began). It was empty by comparison tonight vs. last night and WAY more mellow with the hawaiian slack key/slide music. Two completely different shows as last night was a party and tonight was mellow mood. I'll edit my photos down this week but was able to get tons of nice shots this evening sans people unlike the previous. Also, it's just an exponentially better show for my eyes (and camera) to attend by evening as opposed to day and if you can hit dusk then perfect. Those lights add a majestic hue come night time and, well, just enjoy it. Going to head back once more for the early shift tomorrow before departing but this has been a lot of fun. Seems to me, if you're in the vicinity head down there tomorrow night or Monday before the Tuesday internet on-sale is up and running as once internet sales are the majority i suspect that the crowds may take over - it will be interesting to see how that line evolves. From memory, Bristol queue increased with each passing week. It sounds like there is a 4k people per day limit and far fewer will be able to walk up and enter once internet sales account for the vast majority of entrants so get down there in the next 3 nights if at all possible. Topple the anvil - it gets funnier every time i say it.

Rob, Robin, Robin Banks, Robin Gunningham, or Robin Hood?
I really don't know. The seedy backroom of the art industry is not my cuppa. I just know it's all a show.

He he you have to chuckle........and agree with the knockers... Would have been so much better if he had just stuck a few pics up in a gallery......or charged the RAA a million quid, visitors £20 and put the police riot van outside if you all donate a load of money to pay me to bring it As opposed to £3 quid with loads of daft cheap momentous for a pound, cheap posters artists doing cheap prints etc supporting a load of human rights organizations and cause supporting lots of young artists like the great Palastinian guys, Darren Cullen etc So while every major art venue like RAA or the Tate etc would have paid for the privillage of a Banksy show where did he go.........ahh yes a relitively troubled seaside town to support the local people business and help to show the value of a dilapidated facility supporting local economy rather than cashing in It really is quite amazing and How see the real reasons and concet behind all of the http://instagram.com/p/6sR1t3P1Sb http://instagram.com/p/6rUOh-v1XD http://instagram.com/p/6smK1QP1Qz And so yes there s a gift shop with great momentous which are brill and strangely enough its on the way out http://instagram.com/p/6rUIRWP1W3 Ps. And for those of you who are wondering what the Arabic says........it fittingly says. "Fuck off" Apologies for show pics to those not visited but these are more cause based than show etc...he he the simple stuff.......the migrant boats did make people chuckle but it also made everyone who say it think...which is the whole point really in engaging people in the issues

The ending was quite brilliant, a dismal voice came over the speakers and from hazy memory said something along the lines of.....you've all outstayed your welcome...fuck off

I've skipped half this thread as I'm reading on a mobile phone, but so people really think Hirst is banksy ? The cross over over artists work here is so much that you could credit the whole event to 4/5 people.. But that's what happens when you put on a themed event

The Dismalamd website's been updated to include the Guardian critic's comment "Truly depressing and quite boring".

4.10am: Left home 6.45am: Arrived WSM, and as only 25/30 in the queue went to only place open for breakfast, Premier Inn. 7.50am: Went to join queue ( now about 100 ), wife finished breakfast and then went back to car. 8.30am: Started raining, rather heavily. 9.30am: Got to ticket office to be told I couldn't buy a ticket for my wife as she needed to be there. 9.31am: Went back to car ( soaking went ) to put on dry hoodie and get wife. 9.55am: Rejoined queue, with wife and umbrella. Processed within 15 mins. 11.29am: Stopped raining. 11.30am: Got to front of queue. Soaking wet, and cold. 11.32am: Got in. 11.55am: Started raining again.
Brilliant day, brilliant exhibition. Wonderful. Great to see some new artists featured.
The relentless rain, and grey oppressive skies added to the shear stupidity of it all. The sad pathetic external exhibitions were superbly executed, hosted by bored stewards. The puddles. The unrelenting rain. Grim, but was all the better for it. The crap plastic. The litter. The decaying lido. People in plastic ponchos. Empty deck chairs.
Walked round with a huge grin on my face at the stupidity at what I - and others - were doing. Yet recognising a truth.
Will be going back for an evening session, hopefully when it's warm and dry. But wouldn't swap todays experience for anything.
