Hmmm
As the latest in a long line of drinkers- the Northern Pictish/Celtic leitmotif- I would like a non art thread on the noble art of the pissing it up.
Me. I do love Beer now. Once upon a time it was just a vehicle to oblivion, now I have become a hipster effect snob about beer.
Likes: Becks as a default- a little sweet but consistent and available. Other than that - It has to be German. The LIdle own brands are decent as well.Weekends in Berlin turn into 24 sessions with little hangover
Spirits - I am not a cocktail or martini drinker, but do like a good Stoli
actually, most artists were also piss artists, so it has resonance
PS anyone mentioing Stella will be killed in the face with fire.

Love IPA's. Really like Ranger from New Belgium Brewing out of Colorado. Star Hill Brewers from Virginia is the bees knees too, as is Little Sumpin' from Lagunitas.

So many good beers over here in Australia. Favorites are Coopers Green pale ale and James Boags (Tasmania) is the best lager out there. Tsing Tao (Chinese lager) I rotate with Boags and it has come down in price over here which is great.
Also as a treat some Fridays (when Director isn't around) have an extended lunch with 2 large Leffe's (belgium beer), love this beer but really expensive to buy a carton of 24 bottles.
As I get older I have got into red wine, bought a wine rack for the man cave, was hoping to buy expensive bottles but I cant justify it these days so try to buy around the $15 -$20 max. Wynns Estate Merlot is a cracking wine here in Winter but cant drink red in summer as it doesn't feel right in the heat. Then switch to (I haven't got a problem honest!) Oyster Bay Sav Blanc for Summer and other New Zealand Sav Blancs, for some reason I only like sav blanc and prefer them from NZ and not keen on other white's?

For me love a good pint of Augustina. A brilliant Munich brewery. Bit there once often twice a year usually take in the Ocktoberfedt but missed it this year due to bloody Banksy and Dismaland. But actually for good drinking it's a better place outside of the festival in the summer Beer Gardens and the brewery houses
Although not a beer drinker my local when home is a whether spoons and their rotating beer selection is amazing and do good for the independent Brewers my bro and dad love their beer so that's our local

I have a penchant for craft brewed ales of all kinds (IPA's, APA's etc)
On the spirit side it's single malts all the way with visits to dark rum quarters, particularly in summer

I like the top fermenting yeast beers such as IPA's, Stout's and Wheat beer. When I am firsty I like Tsing Tao and otherwise when going out with friends, just a pint.
Not a big fan of Cocktail etc.

Franziskaner.
During a recent trip to Greece my business partners tried to kill me with loads of Mastiha. Nice stuff though.

For me a bottle of Corona, Sol or San Mig.
If I want something a little harder then Rum and coke hits the spot.

I grew up in Lancashire, so loved hand pulled Boddingtons, Thwaites, Tetleys (I know Tets is a Yorkshire brew). Also partial to a pint of Robinsons from Cumbria. Nowadays, being domiciled in leafy Bucks, I tend to stick to lager. Nothing I like better than exploring the foreign bottles from the local supermarket though. Also more and more liking wheat beers. Recently back from a Berlin trip and had a heap of fun over there - as someone was saying up top of the thread!

Good to seeTsing Tao getting a couple of mentions @jeezusjonesjnr & alexdb. It comes from a City called Qingdao which is about 40 mins flight from Biejing and home of the Olympic sailing. Used to go there a lot at one time the local graft brew there is rather superb and they do a special one for their beer fest which is just class. Lot of good local lagers in China each City basically has its own one's with Tding Tao being the only real country wide one They do some relatively decent wines here a well and some spirits that would just blow your socks off at 70% proof

I spent 2 days in Qingdao there Johnny, great city and I was drinking Tsing Tao 'Dark' Long Neck bottles also, was hoping to get to the brewery. Another big city 14m people!! I cant handle the wine it's crazy strong over there and a 'quiet' lunch always turns into a 4 hr session

Certainly disgraceful unless it's a skint artist putting on a show themselves and can't afford to give away beers. Some of the best around are Laz, which normally does really good drinks that never seem to run out. Stolenspace's cocktails are always 'interesting' too. Agree that when it comes to lager, Asahi is up there.
