Bernie Sanders is in the mix too and he's a great "Washington Outsider"...supports sending drug offenders to rehab instead of jail, make college free, income equality... the list goes on. don't know if he'll make it onto the ticket but if he does, he's got my vote: berniesanders.com/issues/

I dunno. Banksy hasn't really painted any modern political figures has he? He's politically aware, or active you might say, but he didn't do Bush and he hasn't done Cameron.

I wonder about Banksy's politics. Given his background, and the previous employer of his wife, whilst I am aware of his feeling on the large global issues I wonder if he wouldn't be a right wing leftie...

Trump is too easy to parody And already done many times, but I hope that he wont be taken too serious in America, right? People of America must be that smart enough, his statements have flaws, non exexutable and nonsens in terms of racism and poverty.

Yeah, this has been going on for a long time. Everywhere. Hard not to feel absolutely despondent about the whole thing.

Why would Banksy have to paint Trump to comment on his popularity? That would be a little too on the nose for Banksy, no? Banksy seems to be a bit more sophisticated than that.

I was being all old fashioned there. Banksy is much more than just a painter.

If history has taught us anything, it's not to trust witches; and the public are more easily manipulated when they're struggling or in financial difficulty. There are a lot of people out there that are looking for reasons why their lives are so difficult. Who's to blame for this? How do things get better for my family? That can be a guy in Detroit or some other guy in Raqa.
Trump is a parasite.

Trump may be a parasite, but he is a very popular parasite. I've been to his rallies, the guy is appealing to a very large base of poor white trash all across this land of mine. His fans, which are legion, are way more bat shit crazy than he is. Sometimes, the whole fucking thing has to burn down before things can begin to change in a real way. He is (intentionally or not, I'm still undecided) turning the mirror on the American people, showing just how racist, xenophobic, and prideful they have become. I, of course, am above the fray.

Because that's American democracy. Majority of people are very ignorant and ill-informed. Yes, the majority. If they could, that mob would throw Obama off a cliff today. The same for Bush 8 years ago and Clinton 16 years ago... and so on and so on.
Two party system doesn't work.
Our system of capitalism doesn't work.
Our schools don't work.
And increasingly, our people don't work. (See what I did there?)
It will take a horrid decision by the American people (Trump) to really change things. At first for the worse, and finally for the better. Trump would cause the majority of rube Americans to finally look at themselves in the mirror, question their motivations, question their beliefs, question the system, get their heads out of their asses, and begin to pay attention to the world around them and not just CONSUME.

Good post that, and agree the whole world is going down the American route of consuming, even Asian countries. So much debt and another GFC likely it's going to end in tears. I went to re finance my mortgage yesterday they were trying to give me all sorts..I felt like saying 'Stop trying to offer me more money i just want to pay off my loan quick smart so I can fuck you guys off!!' hate banks.

The problem with Yank politics is the time it all takes to vote for a president. I'm no expert on this, but it appears all this 'news' we have to endure in the UK on Trump etc at the moment is simply just about selecting candidates. Then there will no doubt be months /years(?) of the selected candidates actually campaigning. For Brits who are used to political parties privately choosing or in the case of Labour having a members ballot that is over in a few weeks this is all a bit excessive.
As I don't have a vote in this American election , I'll wait till the morning after the final result to feign mild interest when the inevitable discussion happens in the office.

Do you think it would ultimately be a good thing for America if they went through a period of President Trump?
