personally I am not keen on the association of the NBF name with the other forum - I would suggest a rebrand - contemporary art forum uk or at least a brainstorm thread about the name. Its time to grow up and stand on our own feet instead of being a better copy of the otherside

But on a serious note: I do agree on cutting ties with uua. And also leave the hate and discomfort with uaa when we adapt a new name.
Just put some distance between the two forums. The further we are from sulky the better imo. Perhaps also leave the discussion about uaa at the doorstep and just talk art and graffiti?

I agree. If new people pop in and all they see is some disgruntled people at the end of the bar, talking about how they've been wronged, it's not exactly cheery.

The main focus should be to have more content and more people on board, especially artists and galleries and a totally different and better design.

Another important point is that we need to have terms and some committed people ready to moderate/admin the forum to discuss and agree on what this forum is all about... I think it should be a participatory and collective initiative, I don't want to sound like shit but it is important we speak about questions like who owns it, what's the cost, what about ads, etc...    ProBoard terms are hash so whatever we say, at the end, it is still a one man thing.  May be ProBoard is not the best platform ? The effort to have an IG, Twitter accounts is great. sɐǝpı ɟo uoıʇɐɹǝpǝɟ is it possible to have multiple admins on ProBoard ?  I suggest we look at the first people registered here, contact them and see if they want to be committed to take shared costs, liability and blah blah and decisions taking. Like an association, share of cost, no benefits (if there is any, it is reused sanely), no god-like admin, no bullshit FG. 

Clearly, a more friendly, participatory forum about art (and less donkey stuff too, I like lowbrow humor though, big fan of Crumb), it would get lot of users.  Then, for the rest, got lot of ideas, may be we could do a shared doc on Google Drive, a few of us, or group PM. 

As for the name, it is there. It is already on second position on Google. It has Banksy and Forum. And the "Not Banksy" is quite funny and may attract people more than the contrary. It has that rebel thing

I've got no idea what happened (or is happening?) over at UAA, but I don't see there's any reason these two forums can't co-exist peacefully. I've got plenty of friends over there and wish them the best. As I see it, UAA has evolved into more of a sales/collecting forum, whereas this one is more about admiring graffiti & street art in general, and a place people who enjoy graff can mingle with like-minded people

we get about 500 unique visitors a day, which I suppose aint bad considering we don't do promo or anything and it started as a joke. it's here - we don't make money, we don't charge money, and people can come here and post if they choose to do so. we do Q&A's with artists, tons of charity work, and plenty of great stuff I think all the members here should be proud of.

yes, there are some flare ups from time to time but in general I think this place is pretty relaxed as far as internet forums go - when you get people together bound by their passion, things are sure to get emotional once in a while. And Id rather have 10 people that really care about the graff scene then 100 people that are into it as a curiosity or 500 people into it for the money.

as for changes, cosmetic or otherwise, it's always open to conversation - I don't consider myself to really be the "owner" or even admin of the forum - in a perfect world, I wouldnt have to do shit - lord knows I don't want to have to . It's a democracy here - if enough people want something changed, then we can think about it collectively and decide if it's a good idea or not. there's a few mods besides myself and nothing happens without conversations with them
