Was hit & miss for me. I was hoping for something a bit special. I think the Galleries have had a lot of people on their lists pull out as i have had them calling me asking if i want the piece's instead of the other way round for once.

Yep don't think they have scored a hit with the screenprints, they are small and expensive. I have no idea where they got the pricing from.the images are good though.

They didn't really do it for me this time so I didn't go for the new release screen prints the glow in the dark bit is cool though. I liked the rogue trooper but me and my wife could not agree (she didn't like it so was not allowed it). However we did grab a Courty 'colourful language' screen print instead to fulfill my want of glow in the dark.

Those screen prints were well over priced on my opinion. I honestly thought they would be cheaper than the digital ones. Still I'm sure they sold out though.

looks like jj tweeted about the uaa, i think the thread over there got personal regarding the artist shame as he is a really approachable guy, I'm hoping this forum doesn't turn out like that,if we get honest opinions, good and bad, along with a respect for the artist producing the work, then this place will be amazing!!!

Yeah. I get the impression that it wasn't so much the critique of his work that bothered him, as much as it was the comments that anyone could knock up similar images in 5 minutes.
I think he knows his work isn't life-altering and it probably isn't meant for such scrutiny.

But people with a decent level of photoshop skill COULD knock some of his images in 5 minutes and with 95% less terrible puns
he'll have to develop thicker skin if he's going to produce such amateurish codswallop

Oh and I posted his Tweets regarding the UAA on the UAA, not in a "taking the piss" kind of way, but in a "we should remember that the forums are open and what we say can be read by all and sundry, including the artists we're critiquing" kind of way.
We're all still entitled to our opinions. And JJ can come back at us regarding what has been said at any time. It's actually quite rare to see artists interacting with the forum in a constructive way. The more the merrier. But once they star taking a bit of money, I would imagine the forums would be the last shitholes they would want to visit.

Yes, but I think he was taking exception to people implying that anyone with Photoshop can make a good image. You're correct, it takes skill to use Photoshop effectively and to not shoehorn bad puns into everything. If he's as hot as "they" claim, then he'll probably need to resist the lure of money, tempting him to churn out Star Wars images for the cash-hungry galleristas. I'm starting to really dislike all the Star Wars fan art. It's getting to be like the royal baby. Months of this shit until the film is released. Then more shit. And I'm a huge Star Wars fan. I'm typing this while sitting in my vintage Star Wars dressing gown, with my vintage Lightsaber in my hand. I like Star Wars, but enough's enough. It's like these people are abusing my childhood. I was raised by Star Wars. I don't come into their homes and take the piss out of the people that raised them.

I wasn't a fan of the recent release but i believe he is skilful in the way he can composite and manipulate the images. @badrobot are you able to take 5mins out of your day to knock up an image with an equally skilful piece of digital work incorporating your own photographs into the piece then uploading it here ?

Nobody but the artist knows how much time, energy or effort into a piece. The punters just judge the end result. We don't get to see the blood, sweat, tears, St Martins tuition fee bills, or the hysterical cackling and howling at the moon, once the first gallery cheque comes in.

I think criticism (constructive or otherwise) is valid, without having to make art yourself. If Toyota have made a shit car, you should be expected to be able to say it's shit without having had the experience of making cars yourself.
Anyway, from what I've seen of him, he seems likeable enough. I hope he has fun and gets to make a living from it. I don't like aggressive marketing when it comes to art, and his work isn't really for me, but good luck to him and anyone that buys his work. I get the feeling that if he makes a success of it, we might see an awful lot more of this type of art over the next few months. Because there are an awful lot of decent Photoshopkeepers out there. Especially ones that like Star Wars and have plenty of time on their hands.

so we rate artists on how well they can use a product and then fucking paint on it? But we don't care what the image is or what it's saying.
the future of art is for blind people or for people who have had a lobotomy.
awesome
