We'll look into it and find a workaround, it'd be a shame not to have Gift Aid added. Ok, so it looks like we'll just take our chances on the Gift Aid being added. When making a donation, there's a checkbox under the Gift Aid checkbox asking "Is this part of a raffle or on behalf of a business?" Ticking that box will unfortunately remove the Gift Aid, so we'll be trying to steer people away from doing so, although we can't say this on the JustGiving page for obvious reasons. Also, rather than calling the appeal a 'raffle', we're going to 'gift' one lucky donor the tenners and book. We do however face a potentially bigger issue, and that's how we identify the 'winner' without donors having to add a note of their email address or telephone number. @andy, how did you manage this with your Banksy Flag fundraiser? When members were giving a donation they left a comment with their forum name, each name was given a number 1-total number and the numbers were put into a random number generator.

Thanks Andy, but what about donors who aren't forum members? Not sure, that raffle was only on the forum, i guess if people leave a comment with theit real name then when the raffles done you could announce the winner on the website? I'll have a think

Thanks Andy, but what about donors who aren't forum members? The simplest workaround would be that they would need to sign up to the forum

People can either sign up or use a one-off email account set up specifically for this?
Edit- tbh most are going to bend over backwards for an attempt at being gifted this sensational prize, let's not over think this. Banksy di-faced tenners from laz, come on ...

I'll have a think Ah, didn't realise your fundraiser was forum only. Problem is any non-forum members would have to leave a visible email address or phone number, which may put some people off. If anyone has any ideas, my brain-dead hangover would love to hear them. Quietly, please. How about giving the option of username, telephone or email. Otherwise just an option of username, there will be all sorts of unwanted specimens from the other side joining up to enter

How about this... Laz offer every member of this forum the opportunity to buy a tenner for, say, £100? £200? Whatever. You had to be registeredhere a certaint amount of time ago, certainly before today There's no cost to Laz,the prov is solid, and most importantly, poor cunts that are close to death get some dough. 20 notes, 2/4 grand. 100 notes - well, you do the maths... I say this not in dismay at Laz's offer, but because I know a few of their employees and I hope they would to do as much as possible... This would put the total into the stratosphere

Why not just run a raffle on this forum with everyone donating £5/£10 via your PayPal? Nice and simple.

I see where you're coming from but this isn't going to happen for a number of reasons. Can you imagine it? So many people paying at least £100 for a note. Blimey, that would be something else

Why not split the notes. One for forum auction and one to go as wide audience raffle. I personally don't see the need to own 2 notes. So each note comes with a book. Just a thought

There's obviously pros and cons to every scenario but I'm beginning to think the conventional Just Giving raffle will raise the most money. GiftAid only applies to donations from UK taxpayers and I suspect this will be outweighed by making the raffle available to as many people as possible. Thanks again to LAZARIDES EDITIONS - sorry for the logistical headaches.

@paulypaul I find your choice of words here in really bad taste! "Poor cunts close to death" was that really necessary?
Would you say that if it was your mother/father/child or other family member suffering in this disaster. Poor form indeed.

Ive got nothing against people swearing, I just found that comment a bit distasteful in its wording. End of.

But in your first message you've said that you want to do an auction only for this forum. Why not just run a raffle on this forum with everyone donating £5/£10 via your PayPal? Nice and simple. Because, quite obviously, that wouldn't raise anywhere near as much as opening it up to everyone. Absolutely fair enough. The confusion arose because in an earlier post you stated that the auction was only to be for this forum. But doing it for a wider audience should hopefully raise a lot more for a very important cause.

In the words of Dell: Namaste Photo by a Tibetan friend and frequent traveler to Nepal. This is a group of young monks in a monastery in Nepal. I thought about donating one of his works but as this is an urban art forum went with the basics Sonam is one of the official US photographers for the Dalai Lama when he visits the US.

my.charitywater.org/notbanksyfornepalWe still have 45 days left in our campaign on Charity:Water (originally from UAA). We can donate anonymously if desired and simply place our screen name and which site (for example: shadynasty : notbanksyforum) in the comments sections. From there, a list can be compiled and names entered on to a site like randompicker www.randompicker.com/Info/Pricing.aspx for the drawing. I would be more than happy to donate my time for the organization. Don't mean to muddy the water. Just trying to help out and I know 100% would go to Nepal on that particular site.

We'd like to donate a couple of Di-Faced Tenners and a special edition of The Outsiders book, highest bidder gets the lot. Only caveat is we'll run the auction exclusively for members of this forum to save getting lost amongst the plethora of shonky Tenners on eBay. If everyone's ok with that we'll get it together next week. Why not just change the word 'auction' above to 'Raffle' ? There are above 350 members here now & if everybody bought 1 ticket at a tenner a pop then we would raise a tidy sum. I expect not everybody would buy, but am sure some would be up for more than 1. Thats an understatement.

And clearly my eyesight isn't what it used to be. No way did I just see 34 pages of positivity turned turned into something so ugly & classless. For a moment there it looked like someone suggested Lazarides, whose generosity is already going above & beyond, offer even more so only a select few(forum members) could get their hands on a tenner. Then I thought I saw a gentleman that spent his own time & money to organize & coordinate thousands of pounds being raised for charity called a dickhead, for disagreeing with choice of words used to describe those that lost everything, including loved ones. Well at least once everyone agreed it be dropped, he let it rest & didn't throw in anymore snide remarks. Oh well, suppose it's off to the optometrist. Whew, just happy I caught this problem before I misread anything else!!

I think that offering a tenner for 100 £ to members of here is a great idea ! It will give a max for charity. And very kind and smart idea. Monsieur Lazarides you are a gentleman ! I will have a real Bznksy tenner, all a symbolic gesture ! Ps but maybe I did not understand ( as usual ) the real matter of this donation.., If so, sorry ...
