New series of Serial: serialpodcast.org In May 2014, a U.S. Special Operations team in a Black Hawk helicopter landed in the hills of Afghanistan. Waiting for them were more than a dozen Taliban fighters and a tall American, who looked pale and out of sorts: Bowe Bergdahl. Bergdahl, a U.S. soldier, had been a prisoner of the Taliban for nearly five years, and now he was going home.
President Obama announced Bergdahl’s return in the Rose Garden, with the soldier's parents at his side. Bergdahl's hometown of Hailey, Idaho, planned a big celebration to welcome him back. But then, within days—within hours of his rescue, in fact—public reaction to his return flipped. People started saying Bergdahl shouldn’t be celebrated. Some of the soldiers from his unit called him a deserter, a traitor. They said he had deliberately walked off their small outpost in eastern Afghanistan and into hostile territory.
Hailey canceled its celebration. The army launched an investigation. Finally, in March, the military charged Bergdahl with two crimes, one of which carries the possibility of a life sentence. Through all of this, Bergdahl has been quiet. He hasn’t spoken to the press or done any interviews on TV. He’s been like a ghost at the center of a raucous fight.
Now, in Season Two, we get to hear what he has to say.

You all know how I feel about winning. It's this kind of validation that gets me up in the morning.
That, and wetting the bed. ( which your avatar hints at )

forum = existing = major plus = people to boot = also.... however i don't do back slapping - take this as a minor neg on the thread - sorry people - but feedback where it's due. fwiw - keep on .. moffla, pp , sean etc.. and attitude - missed btw Am still around, just find enthusiasm hard to muster during the dark winter months. And to be honest, apart from Dismaland I've not really been excited by anything ( apart from the Killing Joke album and tour ). Will make a concerted effort to contribute/piss people off/argue.

There's a story behind that cumberbund purchase ... Quite boring really. I was at an RSC costume sale, trying to buy David Tennant's trousers. Someone else beat me to them, so, as not to feel like a loser, I purchased the next best thing I could find. You're scaring me.

One of my favorites, "Apoclypse Now", would have been hell to work on... Brando, Coppola, Storaro on the same set at the same time would be an amazing experience. Worth reading the book about the madness involved in the making of this film. Notes: The Making of Apocalypse Now by Eleanor Coppola

All time classic. Love the drawings (song titles) on the record label – reminiscent of Dr Plip's works? World class choice Still Hate Thatcher! Do you remember the movie they made? I remember seeing it around 1990 at a pals house, in Bradford. There's a lot more to that story, actually, but most of them are locked up or dead. They never tell you that in adult education. 'You're gonna grow hairs on your balls. Oh, and fucking awful shit will befall you and/or people you know'. Saw Buttonhole Surfers in '87 ( I think ), somewhere in London ( Brixton possibly ). They showed a video of a sex change operation before they came on. The most disturbing thing I've seen. I had this conversation with my brother-in-law recently who I gave a lift to the gig. He admitted he was tripping out of his head at the time and it freaked him out. It was also news to him that I'd taken him there and back!

Just as seeing the royals at a rugby match brings out the football hooligan in me, seeing a bearded hipster opening a cereal cafe brings out the class war in me.

but what are they for any ideas? why the different time, unless it was just to allow them to sell the extra tickets and they just put a different time up as it was easier to do on the website The local council will probably have set the capacity according to fire exits, the exhibits, installations etc. Maybe with it now up and running they feel that the evening events can handle extra.

Personally my favourite was the lady in the shower. Fitted perfectly in the lido. Perhaps a boyhood memory? Guess it was closest to what we would expect a Banksy piece to look like on an outside wall. Beautifully executed. One of the few brighter pieces amongst the gloomy theme. Perhaps not any great meaning behind it but I always love it when the public interact with a Banksy piece - there were plenty of photographs being taken. One of my favourites, and a reminder of how he interacts with the environment. A classic Banksy piece; and yes, it was a popular photograph, myself included.

gonna go with the Robbo tribute. Not much to say about it except a very classy move to include it and I'm sure his friends, family, and fans appreciate it Agreed. And the fact that's it's location isn't immediate adds to its inclusion.

4.10am: Left home 6.45am: Arrived WSM, and as only 25/30 in the queue went to only place open for breakfast, Premier Inn. 7.50am: Went to join queue ( now about 100 ), wife finished breakfast and then went back to car. 8.30am: Started raining, rather heavily. 9.30am: Got to ticket office to be told I couldn't buy a ticket for my wife as she needed to be there. 9.31am: Went back to car ( soaking went ) to put on dry hoodie and get wife. 9.55am: Rejoined queue, with wife and umbrella. Processed within 15 mins. 11.29am: Stopped raining. 11.30am: Got to front of queue. Soaking wet, and cold. 11.32am: Got in. 11.55am: Started raining again.
Brilliant day, brilliant exhibition. Wonderful. Great to see some new artists featured.
The relentless rain, and grey oppressive skies added to the shear stupidity of it all. The sad pathetic external exhibitions were superbly executed, hosted by bored stewards. The puddles. The unrelenting rain. Grim, but was all the better for it. The crap plastic. The litter. The decaying lido. People in plastic ponchos. Empty deck chairs.
Walked round with a huge grin on my face at the stupidity at what I - and others - were doing. Yet recognising a truth.
Will be going back for an evening session, hopefully when it's warm and dry. But wouldn't swap todays experience for anything.

I'm thinking of going 1st week sept. bit of a drive from essex so will stay for the night. Any recommendations for where to stay? is there such thing as 5* in WSM or am I better off staying in Bristol? ta I'm not ware of any 5* hotels in Bristol. There are a few high quality 5*hotels in Bath, such as one on the Royal Crescent but that's about 25 or so miles away. The Marriott on College Green Bristol is pretty good, otherwise it's mainly B&Bs in Weston. I always use The Marriott on College Green when staying in Bristol. Expensive, but fill your face at the breakfast table, use the sauna and pool, plus free parking underneath and it's not too bad.
