www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2016/adam-curtis-hypernormalisationOK. I have only done an hour of this. mrs O has done the lot as my reccomendation on a fight and has broken her Curtis virginity and is well pleased by it.I told her it was a Richard Curtis film to get her to watch it btw. A couple of provisos though as with any AC piece. Its about the creation of a narrative to explain the creation of a narrative. Sometimes the dots don't join as well as they should, but a competent storyteller can work with this.View it as an opinion piece set against a sexy montage of image and sound ,rather that a slab delivery of facts and you should be OK.

a couple amazing docs that are both connected to the horrors we face today - the crisis in Syria (and elsewhere) and the problem refugees (displaced people) have if they're lucky enough to get out
for example, how Israel continues to only grant 1% of the 600K or so refugees any official status, well it's insanely hypocritical given the history of Jewish refugees
the highs and lows of humanity continue to amaze and disgust me

just watched this and it made me really sad.... I wish the Obama administration had made more of an effort to reach out and open a more mature dialogue with the DPRK. The people of North Korea are not the enemy - they're just trying to live their lives the best they know how. There are many aspects of North Korean culture that I find beautiful and moving and maybe we need to make a stronger effort to connect with them

ha... The Young Pope..really amazing series .. (...)The two episodes hit these beats at a leisurely pace, with Sorrentino stopping along the way to add generous helpings of mordant wit. He takes advantage of his ready-and-willing leads to sketch characters with sharp inner contrasts. Voiello represents everything corrupt and moribund about the College of Cardinals (he confesses to a priest “all of my sins have to with international banking – you wouldn’t understand”) and genuinely believes in a Francis-like gospel of love and forgiveness. On the other hand, Lenny can throw down on Banksy and Daft Punk like he’s any fortysomething New Yorker, while subscribing to an ultra-exclusionary, ultra-conservative doctrine that, at a bare minimum, predates the Vatican II reforms.(..) www.indiewire.com/2016/09/venice-film-festival-review-jude-law-the-young-pope-1201722953/

Yes, this is rather marvellous. It has the usual debatable facts, like any 'history of...', but a great overview. Funny to think that hip hop didn't exist once.

Somehow this 'Stuxnet' thing seems to have passed me by. I found this Storyville documentary on the BBC fascinating. 'Zero Days: Nuclear Cyber Sabotage' 'A Storyville documentary: How the American and Israeli intelligence agencies allegedly unleashed self-replicating computer malware to destroy part of an Iranian nuclear facility.' www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08bcc18/storyville-zero-days-nuclear-cyber-sabotageHere is a trailer:

HI Everyone. Hope your all good. Have I missed much ?. Just watched '13th' that was the most important documentary I have seen and possibly ever made. About the ways in which slavery has been reinvented/hidden. Prison system etc. Truly brilliant.
