Anyone else had a message saying that all the hat trick prints are damaged?? 'Just a quick email to let you know that Mehdi Ghadyanloo’s Hat Trick Without Encouragement print is now ready to be collected. However, whilst tubing the prints we realised that the bottom right corner is slightly dent. We investigated this and found out that the whole edition was dropped while Mehdi was signing them. It is not a major dent but just thought I would notify you. Are you still happy to receive the print or would you rather a refund?' No photos attached as an example. Strange way to do business, never come across this before. bizarre...wouldn't bother me too much but I think the right thing to do would be to reprint them, or offer a discount

There are dents and then there are dents. Without photos the email is meaningless.

Sorry but this is a massive over reaction. Accidents happen and things get damaged. They haven't tried to hide it and have offered to refund. What exactly do you want them to do? Out of interest are you affiliated to this gallery? Nope. Have enjoyed working with them over the years when I've bought from them and like most of the artists they represent. I agree that it sucks that the prints havbeen creased, but I don't see that as a reason to never want to work with a gallery again when they've even pointed the issue out and offered refunds. I guess maybe I'm not demanding enough.

Have to give respect to where it's due, the ever helpful Francesca was still in email contact with me at 10pm last night (sat). She must have had loads of other people to sort out too, but she still took the time to properly look into solution for me. Well done HG gallery!

Where's a picture of Jimmy hill scratching his chin when you need one? Found this one with instructions in case it helps. I looked for one of someone congratulating themselves for something they didn't do, but couldn't find one.

....So, I was intending on collecting my Hat Trick print tomorrow.
Though I've just discovered that the Hat Trick prints are currently with HG's printer for trimming?! Was anyone else made aware of them being trimmed?? Unless I've missed something, I wasn't.
any info welcomed, cheers!

James Trimming off the damage from being dropped would be my guess...or maybe they reprinted them? I wouldn't worry. Beautiful print.

James are they screen printed? if so, then there is a good chance they used a hole punch system for registration, in which case it's normal for the edge to be trimmed off after printing

Thanks for replies, my suspicion is they are cropping the image to cut off the damaged corners of this run. Though hope you are correct Fed mate! Have pinged them another e-mail asking for more details, awaiting reply (Francesca is on holiday).

Have pinged them another e-mail asking for more details, awaiting reply (Francesca is on holiday). oops forgot this was the print that got damaged. but you'd think if they were trimming down to a smaller size, they would tell everyone the new dimensions in advance in case anyone went out and bought a frame already

From the horses mouth, this is directly from the e-mail I've had from HGG.....
"The trimming will be invisible. The process consist of trimming less than 1 millimetre form the sides where the mark is. Since the mark on the Hat trick Without Encouragement screenprint is minimal the trim can be done assuring the complete design of the artist remains untouched. It will be almost impossible to notice any difference in the before and after trimming besides the disappeared mark on the corner. "
Personally I feel that less than 1mm won't sort out the damage? But I'm open-minded until I see the result.

Picked up my Hat Trick Print today, very pleased as mine doesn't appear to have any damage after the trimming! (FYI; Francesca said the trim was more like 3mm, not the 1mm originally quoted). Looking forward to getting this off to the framers soon! (Good job I got it out of that tube, as it was rolled print side out.)

Print side out looks and sounds scary... Hope nobody keeps it tubed for a whiley , else could be a tearful de tubing.. I tube all my images side out. This is an old gallery trick to make sure paints, inks and other materials dont crack and if they do crack you wont be able to see it rolling out the cracks closed again. If you tube image inside when rolling open the paper you open the cracks.... ;-)

Can someone tell me which parts on these prints have the hand finishing?

I don't have any of the prints (yet) but I believe the figures are the hand finished element.
I know the figure on Zero Time is hand finished. Love this one and managed to get one on reserve.
