Once again, in all fairness to the gallery and the outstanding Francesca, they have offered to refund. Will be taking up their offer.

There are way too few layers for the amount of shading in the piece. I should imagine the delays were due to trying to improve it, but it hasn't been successful. I also suspect the artist would be disappointed with it.
Good they are giving refunds though to those unhappy with it.
I suppose it just goes to show why lots of prints are giclee.
With my experiments in stencils, you need to stick with images with lots of details and not so much shading. Unless you spray free hand in the shading areas. Perhaps screen printing is pretty similar really, I don't really know.

Howard Griffin are not doing themselves any favours here recently. I was really tempted with this print, but glad I gave it a miss. Surely make the prints first, before you try and sell them! They take ya £400+, then make you wait months with delays and then send something like this. Not surprised you asked for a refund Iggywiggy and not surprised they didn't argue the case. I would love to know what Mehdi thinks of the outcome.

Or not. Dunno, don't know the chap. Or HGG.

Maybe after the length of time from purchase to release, they thought best to get it out? It's good they're refunding for people that aren't satisfied though.

dibbs45 Interested to hear your thoughts too if you have had time to study it yet. I think Im gonna try for a refund as well. I wasn't immediately blown away once unrolled and its just looks like something is not quite right with it. Real shame edit: refund pending

Opened mine a few hours ago and it's the shadowing. This must be a problem to get right. Another layer? It's necessary to get the three dimensional effect, yet could be darker. Still in two minds.

This is my first post in this forum. I thought it was necessary to say something about this thread. I think Mehdi is a very talented artist and everyone is just being too critical with this print. I received it and thought it looked great. It looks even better framed:) Sure, the print could of been improved upon by Howard Griffin Gallery, but overall, happy with this purchase and look forward to more works by Mehdi.

I popped into HGG recently. I'd spied Thierry Noir painting & thought I'd say Hi. It seems they are turning it into a Noir museum with a little Mehdi room at the back. Francesca left it seems.

Yes, I believe Francesca has gone. Richard seems to be dealing with all things Mehdi himself.

She was one of the best things about that gallery imo. I've never come across anyone as helpful or efficient as her in any other gallery. Hopefully she's gone on to bigger and better things.
