This year's a tricky one as politicians are more than ever feeding from the same self serving trough. Another consideration is what's the majority of your current MP, as if it's huge you might as well vote Moster Raving Loony. The differences between the main parties are negligible and mainly seem to revolve around being slightly more pro or anti Europe.

Wish al murray's fukp were standing in my constituency Some great policies: • The pound in your pocket The pound will be revalued at one pound 10p, so it will now be worth 10p more. Common sense. • The NHS If you come to A&E and it's neither an accident nor an emergency then you will be sent to a random hospital department to be practised on. Common sense. • On Local issues South Thanet to be made the new capital of the UK. Demilitarised zone to set-up between North and South Thanet.

Honestly don't understand people not voting regardless of the situation or one's political views, at least spoil your votes and make your voice known in that manner... Think of all those who sacrificed for your chance to vote and think of all those in other countries that are still denied that very basic but fundamental right.. Tbh I wish it was mandatory to vote with fines for not fulfilling your civic duty.. Sorry rant over but it really gets on my titts? ?

I think this print/poster by Dave The Chimp from the 2005 General Election sums things up quite well for me and I'd much rather not leave the decision up to those whose views I definitely don't share.

It did occur to me, as an afterthought, to include a 'not eligible to vote' category so that people could vote in there and still get to see the poll results once they'd voted. However it'd already 'gone live' by that stage and I was unable to edit it.

I think it's more important than ever that people vote in this election, get your voice heard and hopefully counter all the lovely people (read "fuck wits") that are going to be voting for UKIP. I wholeheartedly agree with a point raised earlier about compulsory voting, even if it's only to register a "none of the above" vote. Hopefully it'd encourage more people to engage in the election process and the debates around it. Also interested to see what happens in Scotland after last years Yes/No campaign which seemed to ignite a fire and real passion up there. The turnout was truly astonishing and quite a lot of that passion seems to have carried through. We shall see... GET VOTING!! UmBongo

i'm excited, I just got my citizenship here so this will be the first election i'm voting in. I wasn't paying much attention until the debate and just based on that performance i wish i lived in scotland so i could vote SNP (don't know their policies, just was well impressed with Sturgeon). Just trying to read as much as i can before the vote, it's hard treading through all the noise though.

When living in UK I never voted, it's a waste of time nothing changes. Here in Australia I got fined for not voting all the parties are muppets, spin,lies.. Anyone see that programme last year, behind the scenes in the Houses of Parliament? What a fucking shambles. Just daily childish bickering. Not just the UK it's the same world wide.. Best thing is not t watch the news, you'll feel happier

Very complex this time around. Even if the party you vote for gets in, it is highly likely they will have to form another coalition with a bedfellow you probably wouldn't choose. Whoever gets in, I suspect will have such a small minority there will have to be another election later in the year. Not particularly satisfactory for anybody.

this is a great site to do some research about your local MP - can really get to understand their voting pattern, donors, etc www.theyworkforyou.com

Yeah, I saw that. Nice to see intelligent people taking the piss out of that statement online. In a week when civilians are being bombed, refugees are drowning and people are (at this very moment) dying as a result of an earthquake, statements that even remotely try to make out that an abdication is some sort of crisis for a country, is offensive, laughable and very fucking insane. The right-wing press are going proper mental though in the run-up to the election. More mental than usual. The Daily Mail has become a parody of itself.

The frightening thing is that lots of people believe this shit. Yeah. Unfortunately I live surrounded by shit-believers. I'll vote, but I fear the only way I'd be able to effect any form of political change in my area, is to stand naked in the doorway of my local polling station, urinating on Conservative voters as they try to enter.

Let's forget about the politics of this country for a minute (it's getting on my tits!) and help out the poor people of Nepal. I've set up a thread below this to hopefully raise some money. I must say I'm pretty disheartened with the response thus far, posted yesterday morning had one donation from feralthings and 3 likes. When I see threads here with not much content, intelligent commenting or discussion getting regularly posted/commented upon and this receiving just one comment it saddens me a little....rant over. Edit: Apologies for ranting a bit earlier, had a bee under me bonnet The thread has now moved here: notbanksyforum.com/thread/341/nepal-earthquake-relief-charity-auction
