Actually, going back and reading through the thread, there are quite a few positive comments on here from fans of his work. A lot of threads have patches of comments that either fans or non-fans don't like to read. Just plough on.

Is it possible to start a new thread for J J? One that is for people that like what he does and want to discuss it without people slagging it to the ground with stupid comments about it taking five minutes in photo shop to produce the work, Just a thought , or is this not the fourum to do this on? You know when you say things like its crap and takes a few minutes to do , it just makes you sound ignorant ... Kinda like in the old days when , if anyone is old enough to remember " candid camera " in the late 70's they woke try to undermine modern art by throwing a ton of paint on a canvas and pretending to showcase a new artist and ask critics to critique it. Basically trying to make people look stupid for liking something they don't understand. If you don't get J J's work don't buy it, and why try to slag it off to the ground? I love it , can't buy enough of it and don't give a shit it its worth 20p tomorrow. Anyone that puts boba fett and robocop in a fricking delorean gets my £888 okay it maybe takes 15 mins tops so is there anywhere explainignt he process for his art? It would be good to know exactly whats involved and it might silent the people slating him? Have you done a DeLorean?

Give me a coherent intelligent argument for why it's good work. Thanks. Yeah I will do when I am not so tired , but for now I am Still trying to work out your avatar picture is it a frog with a bra on its head giving the fingers up with an eyeball for a face?? & I quote I hope by joining this group I will learn a lot more

Was just saying maybe there could be a separate thread? So this one can continue to slag his work off which this one is doing brilliantly at I should add.... while another one could be there to actually talk about it so anyone looking won't wonder what the hell they have stumbled upon, then you can all continue happily slagging it off here, just a thought ? I might have jokingly suggested starting a new JJ Adams thread awhile ago, but I think there's a natural ebb and flow to threads, as both fans and detractors comment and contribute. It is a JJ Adams thread, but it's on a wider art forum and not just an echo chamber. Perhaps the JJ Adams fans could talk about what they like about the works, favourite pieces, etc. Who knows, the enthusiasm might rub off on others? Same same

Hey that boba fett driving the Delorean is actually pretty cool, your getting there. Ok pretty sure it's been covered here before but my argument for liking this stuf so much is a simple one , really it just ticks all the boxes for a nerd like me. I suppose the first thing to grab me with the star wars stuff was the Leia , it's all the detail and refrences to the movies. So it's not just sticking a tattoo of a flower on her arm , the tattoos all Have movie refrences like " alderan never again " and the gun has " shoot first " on the barrel , her eyes are not reflecting catch lights they are in fact x-wings and the Death Star, lots of cool little bits that sometimes you don't see. The boba fett " its a trap " is brilliant for this , you only have to look at the different flavours of ice cream and the stickers and little extras that are dotted all over the picture. I see something new each time i look at it. The new releases Well I loved the " rouge trooper " and looking at the preview picture I actually had to stop my self pouring over it as I want to get it up on the wall step back and have a good look and not spoil the hidden details that I know will be all over it, kinda like wanting to see the next Star Wars episode 7 trailer but also not wanting to ruin the surprise , if you get me Love the fact that there are only 95 pictures of the boba fett out there i absolutely love the fact that in the entire world i have 1 of 95, But suppose that's the collector in me . Some comments about Athena prints , come on Athena prints?!? They mass produced Millions of £4 posters of girls scratching their bums playing tennis ( great pic I might add ) not really the same as a run of 95 is it. I also think it's wrong to just assume that he loads a pic into photoshop and adds a few tags , his work is all very different and a lot is painted, I also have " time traveler " and " Bratt at at " which are completey different in style and finish to the tatoo series . Also what's wrong with using photoshop?? I am a professional photographer and my work involves major amounts of image manipulation now that back in the day of dark rooms would never be possible, so is it to be assumed because I manipulate an image and use photoshop that it's shit and has any less value in the photographic world? So I think people that are slagging his work of for the use of photoshop need to get off that particular train and look at the work that goes into the image. Is taking an image of bobba fett and spending hours and hours working on it inside a computer less of an achievement than taking a picture of the queen and adding a drippy bit of paint from her eyes or taking a pixelated space invader and adding a few more pixels to it so it looks like a ziggy invader , which by the way is fucking cool.

i think having positive and negative opinions give everyone on here a greater understanding of where people stand on artists works. this thread has been great imo. its never got personal to the artist. the money side hasn't dominated the thread, just good constructive comments and some fun banter. I'm glad this is not a jj adams love fest, would end up a fan page, this is not what a art forum should be about.
i personally like his work, don't care how its created personally. in fact, probably takes him more time to create a piece than it does banksy, cutting a PH stencil of a rat and then spraying on a piece of paper (although id take the rat any day) I have contempary and urban art in my home, more originals than prints and i love them for different reasons, this goes for jj as well.
His work just brings out the kid in me, the one that wants to own all of the lego star wars sets but have never owned one. The old man that still has his 20 year old power peralta skateboard and pops to the off licence on it once in a while to buy a bottle of chateauneuf du pape. The guy that still thinks the stone roses are relevant. This kid in me is dying by the day unfortunately, adult life and the tax man helps take care of that.
His work does actually does have so much detail that is relevant to the chosen theme as well. its not groundbreaking but these images (not all) do grab peoples attention. these people are not art enthusiasts, collectors as we know them, just folk in their 30's to 50's with a bit of disposable income that love the images for their home. I know sentimental reasons doesn't necessarily make good artwork, but who cares, we like what we like.

This is a predominantly urban/street art forum and not an IKEA/Athena forum. It's just the wrong crowd for this stuff, as most of us have seen it all before.

Clearly in your strange eyes it is , how about setting up and Athena page then? I still have a few posters from back in the 80's like the cat hanging from a tree and the Mrs has the iconic man holding baby poster.... Anyway my friend show me another image like the " it's a trap " print then please as I am always up for more boba fett related ikea prints as you put it

I support this being a place to bandy about with your personal musings, but I'm ultimately with will. I never got how people could be so down on Whatson for being repetitive or MBW for his commercialism (or JJ for whatever) but in the same breath rave about people doing very similar things. For those of us who know little about art, it makes it hard to decipher between those who just have a cob up their ass and those that have a worthwhile judgement of the art/technique/etc. And we have plenty of both!
