@achungbono pleae, no undegrad economiucs responses about value and QE E-Z money. this isnt the place for it. and like all economists, you would be wrong anyway.in the long run . Read more: notbanksyforum.com/thread/786/banksy-bubble-burstHe he it's not Value you should have read some good undergrads economics about price!!!! Price, the amount of money that has to be paid to acquire a given product. Insofar as the amount people are prepared to pay for a product represents its value, price is also a measure of value. It follows from the definition just stated that prices perform an economic function of major significance. So long as they are not artificially controlled, prices provide an economic mechanism by which goods and services are distributed among the large number of people desiring them. They also act as indicators of the strength of demand for different products and enable producers to respond accordingly. This system is known as the price mechanism and is based on the principle that only by allowing prices to move freely will the supply of any given commodity match demand. If supply is excessive, prices will be low and production will be reduced; this will cause prices to rise until there is a balance of demand and supply. In the same way, if supply is inadequate, prices will be high, leading to an increase in production that in turn will lead to a reduction in prices until both supply and demand are in equilibrium. . Apologies but couldn't resist!!!

I'll be watching the auction results closely as well. However, there do seem to be a few more prints lingering around a little while longer. I suspect some characters on the other forum were creating a sense of a frenzy last year and were quite successful at it.
I do think the pace of unsigned has leveled off. I think that demand has increased in the urban art domain, especially in the NYC/LA markets if my peers are any indication. Therefore, I don't see the "bubble" bursting in Micallef or Walker fashion. (Pardon the comparison).

People also should remember it's only been two weeks since the Digard street/urban auction and the prices achieved there were really high for all the pieces concerned.
Think the prices now massively reduce the number who can afford and likewise people less likely to transfer that money to a bank account in the hope that it gets posted when they can get it from a gallery or an auction with safety. Living abroad I know I am in that camp in that almost all mine came from auction or gallery. Cost a bit more at the time but was a lot safer and easier.

There is a thread about the Nepal disaster somewhere, and one about Gaza, cant find them?. Well it won't be here no one who is discussing the value of a Banksy would care about the Neoal auction or Gaza. We leave that to you you charity giving hero. I am sure it's pretty obvious that none of us donates or cares anything about those sort of things we only care about the value of our Art collection the other reason we have not donated to Delloy's fine effort is that he is not running an end of charity chart to show who came top. If he did a prize might consider making a donation but hey what's the point if you don't win anything or show everybody how much you care!!! Although we could revert to daft posts zi suppose!! You could ask the Mods to ban all talk of prices and sales while Nepal and Gaza has their problems ...... Mmmmmm you have an Instagram account may be you would be better promoting the auction there rather than here where to be honest I pretty much reckon we all know about it........... Mind if you really want to do something to get the thread noticed and attention you could............do something!!!!!

One other thought which is admittedly worth little, bubbles are characterized by prices rising rapidly over short time periods. I believe that is true of arguably only his unsigned prints alone over the past few years. The signed prints as a whole have escalated in price though nowhere near as rapidly as unsigned in percentage terms. Granted, the last few public releases (CYW, donuts and NBG) rose dramatically since release 5/6 years ago but those were all under priced at release as he generously shared his good fortune with his collectors and the price move on those 3 prints is certainly not representative of the entire signed output. Finally, with the price of originals, the pace of appreciation is far slower by comparison. That green chucker at phillips for instance even at the high estimate is a % multiple rise in price over 5 years equivalent to what unsigned prints have done in the last year alone. And many/most of the unsigned prints have been doubling in value each year for the past few years.

i said LIITA, I meant IFTL!!!! Oops! Big difference! lee3, I totally agree. The rapid price increases seem to apply almost exclusively to the unsigned prints, many of which doubled over the course of the last year or less.

The unsigned market is / was much cheaper to manipulate than the signed market with a higher return also, I'm surprised I didn't think of doing it before someone else did it before me.......

I used to broker options for shits and gigglz, so always think of value rather than price, as I would value an option and come around giving out a price quote based onthe theoretical valuation and a required resultant cashflow
